The day we set an new record!

February 2nd, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

30th January 2010 was unforgettable. It was a Saturday morning and I woke up around 10am. I have planned the day with several appointments to talk about PruInvestor Guaranteed Plus.

As usual, one of the first things I do when I wake up is to check my mobile phone.

1 message from Prudential – Due to overwhelming response, PGP will close today 3pm.

I almost jumped out of bed reading that. In my mind I was thinking how $50 million could be sold out within 1.5 days! It was only launched yesterday on 29th January 2010. Furthermore, smaller tranches in the past took close to a week to sell out.

Q9 Agency Photo Shoot

January 22nd, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

Last night was great fun taking photos with the team. It took us more than 2 hours to complete the whole series.

We simply laughed our heads off looking at some posing for the shoot. Some are simply stiff and the way they smile at first was simply unnatural! Well, I am glad that all shots turned out GREAT!

Ladies & Gentlemen of Q9, YOU ALL LOOK FABULOUS!

My income improve during recession

January 8th, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

income

Just tally up my total income for 2009 including bonus and all. All in, I got a 17% income increment compared to 2008!

Shiok!

Despite of the global recession where many suffered pay cut, $0 bonus or even retrenchment, I can still see my income increases annually. I give credit to the nature of my industry. I believe it is an every green industry. Regardless of good or bad times, our services are always in demand as people either do wealth accumulation or wealth protection programs.

Why should I buy insurance?

January 6th, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

attaphouse

Imagine that there is a small village with 10 attap houses and Mr. X stays in 1 of them. Each attap house is constructed using all natural building materials such as dried leaves, branches and so on. The downside of such houses is of course they are easily flammable and can burn down in a blink of an eye.

All are peaceful until a fateful night when 1 attap house caught fire. 8 of Mr. X’s neighbors dashes out from their house with buckets, rushing to fill them out with water trying to put out that raging fire.

Electricity prices up again!

December 30th, 2009 by Ryan Koh No comments »

shell1 thing that I always keep a lookout for whenever I drive is the price of petrol prominently displayed at Shell petrol kiosks. If you are not aware, all petrol companies charge the same price for petrol. So even I don’t pump at Shell, they definitely provide useful information to me. Thanks Shell!

I’ve been anticipating the rise in oil prices as it was covered in news worldwide. However, what I did not expect to happen so fast was the increase in our electricity price. Titled “Electricity prices up again” in The Straits Times.

My Mercedes C200

c200

Finally got to change my car last month! Has been shopping around for couple of months before I settled with the C200. Friends were telling me to buy BMW saying that it is more suitable for a young image. In another word, they are telling me that only old man drives Mercedes. Haha.

I did look at BMW 3 & 5 series, the interior did not appeal to me that much as Mercedes. BMW gave me a more executive and corporate feeling compared to Mercedes where it gave me a feeling of accomplishment.

What is the job scope of an insurance agent?

December 28th, 2009 by Ryan Koh 2 comments »

insurance agent job scope6 years plus in the insurance business, I’ve always describe my job as “meeting 3 people a day to have a cup of tea” to my friends. I can always see that disbelief on their face. Is my description for the job scope of an insurance agent too far from reality?

In fact, the truth is not too far from that. An insurance agent’s work can be broadly classified into 2 categories. They are Insurance prospecting and Client servicing.
