A gift by my 5 year old client

April 16th, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

This is a Art & Craft work that Xin Hwee, my 5 year old client, gave me when I was visiting her place 2 weeks ago.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn from her that she only made 1 of this and wanted me to have it! She even insisted that I write my name on it. Very cute huh.

This gift made my day!

Thank you Xin Hwee!

Are you deceived by your car loan interest rate?

April 16th, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

Car loan interest rate in Singapore usually ranges from 2% to 3+%. The “low interest rate” was a selling point used by the car salesperson on me when I was buying my Mercedes last year.

“Interest rate only 2.45%” he boasted.

Is he telling the truth? Not really.

Usually, the interest rate is being calculated flatly on the loan amount. For example, if you take 5 years $10,000 loan at an interest rate of 3%, your monthly repayment is calculated this way:

Step 1: Total interest repayment = (3% of $10,000) x (5 years) = $1,500

2010 Incentive Trip to Perth

April 13th, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

Just came back to Singapore from my Perth incentive trip. It was a pretty short stay from 6-8 April, including flight hours.

However, it was great fun! I am especially happy as there are more qualifiers from my team this year. I look forward to the day when my whole agency is to travel to an incentive trip together.

That will be the day when we celebrate success together!

Work hard, play hard!

I love my career!

Are You a Monkey

March 31st, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

I was attending my CFP lesson last week when the lecturer told the class a very interesting story. It is actually a real experiment done by scientists many years back.

The Monkey Experiment

What the scientists did was to put 5 monkeys into a cage. There is a pole standing in middle of the cage and a banana hangs at the top.  Soon, a monkey will start to climb up the pole towards the banana. As soon the monkey touches the pole, the rest of the monkeys are sprayed with icy cold water. Not long, another monkey will do the same and the rest are sprayed with cold water. This process is done repeatedly after all monkeys are being sprayed at least once. Soon, the monkeys avoid the pole.

New commerical for Prusmart lady II. It provides an interesting health fact on Osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis often leads to fractures of the hip, spine or wrist after only minor injury. It wil then lead to loss of function or even disability. This poses an great impact to the patient and her family both emotionally and financially.

Hip fracture can have severe consequences. A recent local study showed that about 1 in 5 persons died within a year of sustaining an osteoporotic hip fracture and 1 in 3 became wheelchair bound or bedridden.

Preparing University Education Fees in Singapore

March 23rd, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

Another announced University education fees hike in Singapore! Local students from Universities such as NUS or NTU got to pay close to $7000 per year! That is about $2000 more than what I was paying during my time.

If you have been following the trend in University fees, you will realize that this is not the first time they had increased their fees. However, for this time round, they had a differentiated increment of fees between locals, permanent residents and foreigner students. They claimed that this is in line with the government’s move to reflect the “responsibilities and privileges of Singapore citizenship.”

The day we set an new record!

February 2nd, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

30th January 2010 was unforgettable. It was a Saturday morning and I woke up around 10am. I have planned the day with several appointments to talk about PruInvestor Guaranteed Plus.

As usual, one of the first things I do when I wake up is to check my mobile phone.

1 message from Prudential – Due to overwhelming response, PGP will close today 3pm.

I almost jumped out of bed reading that. In my mind I was thinking how $50 million could be sold out within 1.5 days! It was only launched yesterday on 29th January 2010. Furthermore, smaller tranches in the past took close to a week to sell out.

Q9 Agency Photo Shoot

January 22nd, 2010 by Ryan Koh No comments »

Last night was great fun taking photos with the team. It took us more than 2 hours to complete the whole series.

We simply laughed our heads off looking at some posing for the shoot. Some are simply stiff and the way they smile at first was simply unnatural! Well, I am glad that all shots turned out GREAT!

Ladies & Gentlemen of Q9, YOU ALL LOOK FABULOUS!
